BTW, if you want some suggestions for what might help (I say help rather suggesting anything is 'off' because it's a lovely painting and it works, and it's only little technical things that could be considered as 'off') send me a message...
this is beautiful; i can't help but picture... a little glowing male faerie sat on the edge of the book (where the light source is) chin in hand, staring lovingly/longingly into her face...or touching her brow to weave her dreams... a faint foreshadowing of the two of them in an embrace in the portents and symbols
That's just me though, and it's a mark of how evocative this piece is LOVELY!
Nice concept and the colours are fantastic, you captured the mystic blue extremely well. I think the slightly off look is simply being able to see a little too much of her cheek pressed on the book, maybe add a little creasing on her cheek. possibly a little more very subtle sort of sparkling heading off into the top right corner. might sorta blend the change from blue to shadow a bit. either way a damn sight better than anything ive ever painted.
I think this is beautiful! Reminds me of when I just cannot put a book down and end up falling asleep with my face in the pages.
If you are interested, I am hosting "A World of Fantasy" Contest, and would love to have this gorgeous piece grace the halls of the entry wall. If you're interested, all that is required of you is to say something about the contest and link to the contest journal in your artist comments. Learn more here: [link]
Very nice use of color, it's quite appeasing to look at!
Two things that looks off to me is the ear, it doesn't seem to follow the rules of perspective. It's as if I'm looking at an ear from a straight on side-view shot of a head. The other is that it seems she needs a bit more of a forehead on her right (viewer's left) side, it looks a bit too curved inward.
But those are very very minor and hardly detract from such an awesome piece of artwork. Definitely faving this one.
