I'm not sure if your face was really close to the light source or what kaf but there seems to be an abundance of light cast on your face that immediately drops away past your chin. The fold shadows on your right arm (viewed on left) seem too heavy giving a bit of a choppy feeling whereas the treatment of the fabric shadows on the opposite arm make it much more believable that there's an arm beneath the sleeve. Other than that this is uber! I think you did a splendid job capturing...well...yourself! lol I'm fairly certain I have the same necklace as you in this pic too lol I love the small details like the necklace and the scallops of the shirt only being seen on the right side and fading into a general shape the farther from the eye it is. I think that was executed beautifully. The way you did your hair was really well done, lots of fine details there!
I did put more time and more blue tones into the face, but I also think I didn't quite correct enough for some shine on the image because on some monitors the face does look a little bleached out. It is not quite that bad IRL.
The tone and lighting of the skin is really well done and contributes to the sincere mood of the painting. The lighted area of hair down the left side the hair looks a little flat but that could just be a glare on the canvas. Very nice work. I've been doing a lot of self-portraits recently in school and they are challenging. Keep up the good work!
Well the face, it is pale IRL. There is blue to be found because I am a redhead. However, I think the photo has bleached it out a little more. I'm pretty happy with the face but you're right, it does have a different quality to the neck and chest.
Can you elaborate on what you mean about the trapezius?
beautiful colors in complexion! Love the values of light and dark in the hair. The only thing I would suggest is some kind of light source showing in the background. Otherwise, it's perfect and I love the expression on the face!
I admire your attention to detail, and I also quite like how you've done your hair, I do also find curly hair a bit tricky to do, but at the same time, fun. I'm was wondering, the light/highlight in you face has a bit of a blue tinge, it looks almost as if you're cold (slight zombie) in comparison to your neck/chest area. Other than that, You've once again done a magnificent piece!
This is absolutely beautifully done~! You seem to be developing and honestly already have a great mastery of the acrylic medium. I struggle with acrylics so I really commend you. The clothing detail and texture is amazing.
