Ugh, why did I ever think it was a good idea to pluck my eyebrows?

I'm not sure if your face was really close to the light source or what kaf but there seems to be an abundance of light cast on your face that immediately drops away past your chin. The fold shadows on your right arm (viewed on left) seem too heavy giving a bit of a choppy feeling whereas the treatment of the fabric shadows on the opposite arm make it much more believable that there's an arm beneath the sleeve. Other than that this is uber! I think you did a splendid job capturing...well...yourself! lol I'm fairly certain I have the same necklace as you in this pic too lol I love the small details like the necklace and the scallops of the shirt only being seen on the right side and fading into a general shape the farther from the eye it is. I think that was executed beautifully. The way you did your hair was really well done, lots of fine details there!

Job well done!

Thanks for the commets and :iconiloveyouplz:

I did put more time and more blue tones into the face, but I also think I didn't quite correct enough for some shine on the image because on some monitors the face does look a little bleached out. It is not quite that bad IRL.

i've been away from dA for too long so I'm trying to get back into the flow and comment as much as possible >.<

also, i got tumblr o.O it's solely for scraps/sketches but follow me if u have tumblr too :P

it's true that IRL is usually much greater then a picture of something, cameras tend to flatten things like brush lines, nuances and shiny things ;)

The tone and lighting of the skin is really well done and contributes to the sincere mood of the painting. The lighted area of hair down the left side the hair looks a little flat but that could just be a glare on the canvas. Very nice work. I've been doing a lot of self-portraits recently in school and they are challenging. Keep up the good work!

The hair was don fairly well. However her face appears pallid, the lighting is inconsistent with that of the neckline.

With the neck, the trapezius is fairly prominent while her frame is somewhat petit. The brushwork is solid but I would recommend blending your values, 'softening your edges' as my teacher used to say.
